March 2018 Update

OHI Monthly Meeting – The next Oil Heat Institute monthly meeting will take place on Wednesday April 11, 2018.

CARBON TAX BILL REINTRODUCED – H7400 & S2188– Energize Rhode Island: Clean Energy Investment and Carbon Pricing Act of 2018. The legislation proposes to establish a fee on companies that sell fossil fuels for consumption or distribution within the state. Scheduled for hearing and consideration on Wednesday March 28, 2018 at the Rise of the Senate, Room 211 – State House. Please contact your Senator or Representative, submit written testimony and/or appear at the hearing next week to testify in opposition of this bill.

H 7780- HOME HEATING OIL SALES ACT – PROPOSED AMENDMENT– An amendment to the existing Home Heating Sales Act has been introduced and has been referred to House Corporations. Written and verbal testimony was given on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. No vote was taken, and is being held for further study and consideration. The amendment would require a home heating oil dealer pursuant to a home heating oil contract to deliver home heating oil within twenty-four (24) hours of a request by a consumer or waive penalties if the consumer purchases heating oil from another source.

Women In Energy -The 3rd Annual Women in Energy Conference will be held May 20-21, 2018 in conjunction with the Eastern Energy Expo at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, CT. The Oil Heat Institute, Inc. of Rhode Island (OHIRI) is a member-driven, non-profit trade association, formed in 1960. Our mission is two-fold: promote the sale of oil heat, and protect and foster the best interests of the consumers we serve. We achieve this mission by disseminating relevant and timely industry information to members of the oil heating industry, the consuming public, and to elected and public officials.  OHIRI members strive to achieve a high standard of excellence and provide their customers with the best possible service.
